CTPS Progressive Proficiency Protocol (P3)
The CTPS Progressive Proficiency Protocol (P3) is a free, online professional training program for individuals preparing to work within the CTPS system.
Professional Training Foundation
P3 provides the complete CTPS training foundation required to understand the system, progress through its professional training standards, and reach an informed licensing decision within established CTPS timelines. Participants who complete P3 are prepared to pursue work as either a CTPS Course Instructor or CTPS Exercise Instructor, depending on the pathway they choose.
Training and Licensing Are Separate
Completion of P3 establishes that an individual has completed the required CTPS professional training. It does not, by itself, authorize that individual to work as a CTPS Instructor. Professional licensing is a separate requirement.
The distinction is similar to other professional fields in which completing the required education or training does not necessarily mean the individual will enter the profession. A medical-school graduate may complete the required education without ultimately practicing medicine, just as a law-school graduate may complete legal education without becoming a practicing attorney. Their decision not to enter the profession does not erase the education or qualification they completed.
CTPS follows the same principle. P3 training does not require an individual to purchase a professional license before beginning, nor does completing P3 obligate a participant to obtain a license afterward. This separation allows individuals to complete the full CTPS training before making the financial commitment required to work as a licensed CTPS Course Instructor or CTPS Exercise Instructor.
For the same reason, successful completion of P3 may serve as a qualifying training pathway for positions such as CTPS Education Consultant, where demonstrated knowledge of CTPS is relevant independently of whether the individual chooses to become a licensed instructor.
Proficiency Demonstrated Over Time
All training materials are provided upfront. Introduction, Methodology, Joints, Exercises, and Administration are areas of study, not training phases released six months apart.
P3 stars are awarded at six-month intervals based on completed operating time and successful completion of the applicable Proficiency Event. Completing the training materials or an event early does not accelerate a star award.
When Stars Can Be Awarded
The first star may be earned after six months of operation. Each additional star requires another six months of operation and successful completion of the applicable proficiency requirements. Time alone does not earn a star.
A five-star rating requires at least 30 months—two and a half years—of operation. No participant can receive five stars before reaching that operating milestone.
The six-month intervals govern proficiency review and star awards. They do not delay access to training materials or require participants to wait 30 months before beginning authorized work.
Complete Training Materials Available Upfront
Participants receive the complete training materials at the beginning and can study all five subject areas. The star progression records demonstrated proficiency over time while operating within CTPS.
Beginning work remains subject to all applicable licensing, authorization, training, and operational readiness requirements. A five-star rating is not a prerequisite to begin.
Introduction
The Introduction is the opening area of study in the complete P3 training materials.
Its purpose is to provide participants with a substantive understanding of CTPS, the instructor pathways, the structure of P3, and the professional expectations associated with working within the system.
All training materials are available upfront, including the Introduction. Star awards follow the six-month operating milestones described above.
The Introduction establishes the foundation for the other areas of study by helping participants understand what CTPS is, how the training protocol is structured, and what becoming a CTPS Instructor involves.
